Privacy

Privacy policy.

This is the privacy policy for roman10.net. It describes what data the site collects, why, and how it is handled.

Summary

roman10.net is a static technical blog. It does not require an account, does not run a comment system, does not maintain a mailing list, and does not sell anything. The site collects the minimum amount of information needed to serve pages, understand aggregate traffic, and reply to email correspondence.

What we collect

Server logs

When you visit a page, the hosting provider records the standard information generated by every web request: IP address, user agent string, the requested URL, the referring URL (if any), the response status code, and a timestamp. These logs are used to diagnose technical problems and detect abuse. They are retained for a limited time and then deleted.

Aggregate analytics

The site may use a privacy-respecting analytics tool to understand which articles are read, on which devices, and from which countries — at an aggregate level only. We do not use cookies that follow you across other sites; we do not build advertising profiles; we do not share visitor data with third-party advertising networks.

Email correspondence

If you email editor@roman10.net, that message — along with your email address — is stored in the editor's inbox so it can be read and replied to. It is not added to any mailing list, not used for marketing, and not shared with anyone outside the editorial team.

What we do not collect

  • We do not run user accounts, registrations, or logins.
  • We do not host comments and therefore do not collect commenter identities.
  • We do not maintain a newsletter list.
  • We do not run third-party advertising networks.
  • We do not embed cross-site tracking pixels.

Cookies

The site itself does not set tracking cookies. If a privacy-respecting analytics tool is used, it operates without third-party cookies. Some embedded media (for example, videos hosted on third-party platforms) may set their own cookies when their players load; the policy of those third parties applies to those cookies. We aim to keep such embeds to a minimum.

Third parties

The site is hosted on a static-content provider and uses an external image CDN to serve illustrations. Those providers receive the same standard request information described under "Server logs". External links from articles to other websites are governed by those websites' own privacy policies.

Your rights

If you would like to know what information the site holds about you, request a correction, or request deletion (for example, of an email exchange held in the editor's inbox), email editor@roman10.net. We will respond within a reasonable time and act on the request unless we are required to retain the data for a legitimate reason such as fraud prevention or legal compliance.

Children

roman10.net is a technical blog written for a professional audience. It is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

Changes

If this policy materially changes, the change will be reflected on this page. The bottom of this section will note the date of the most recent revision.
